{This is me. Ionie to most, “that weirdo sniffing books” to a few and Scully to one.
Luke and I decided to join forces on this project a while back but it wasn’t until this week that we really set everything in motion. We spend most of our time together coming up with wacky plans for creative projects that usually don’t see the light of day so it’s nice to finally see something through. The reason we decided on an anthology is simply to showcase what we can do. Admittedly I’ve felt pretty useless up to now as Luke has been doing all the branding and illustrations, which is why I can’t wait for the submissions to start arriving!
This isn’t my first time working as an editor; I ran my college newspaper for two years and have dabbled in journalism too. I have a degree in Creative Writing and Drama Studies so I’ve covered a varied array of topics while at university. My education has given me a theoretical and working knowledge of; writing to briefs, web content, magazine and small press publications, journalism, travel writing, reviews and scripts for screen and stage. I’d like to put that knowledge to good use.
I’m not terribly good at writing about my personality so I’ll keep it brief. I love horror films which is one of the reasons Luke and I get along so well. As he mentioned, he is a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer andso am I. I also love comics and books. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t go into bookshops unsupervised for fear of buying more than I can carry. My bookshelf is currently groaning with the weight of them so it’s probably time to invest in a bigger one! I also have a bit of a thing for stationary; I buy journals that my pens never touch. It’s an addiction.
As for the future; I want to write scripts for television and film. However, knowing how changeable I am I’ll probably end up pursuing something completely different. I still fancy being a zookeeper…
So that’s me in a nutshell. I hope to hear from you soon; this promises to be a very exciting project.

I just got home from work and was greeted by an unbelievable amount of interest from you lovely people. It made my day! Luke has been one busy boy…
Keep your submissions coming writers!
If you have any queries feel free to contact us through our ask box or PIYEHUB@gmail.com

We’re really enjoying the submissions we have coming in.
They make for very interesting bedtime reading!
Keep submitting!
Remember; if you have any questions regarding the genre or length of your work - email us or use our ask box.

I’m getting lots of messages from non-UK writers wishing to submit tonight.
Luke and I appreciate the interest you’ve all shown in our anthology and would love to involve you all.
Currently we are still only accepting UK submissions HOWEVER (this is a big however) we are working on ways to open it up to all in the near future.
We’ll keep you all well informed of any changes, don’t worry.

Sooo… i’m curious. What’s your favourite book?
Please note that anyone who puts ‘Twilight’ will be pelted with dungbombs.
I jest… I don’t have any dungbombs.

A very successful day organising advertisements in the local area and talking to potential stockists. Time for a cuppa!

An update on our activities!
Right we’ve been pretty busy lately so I figured i’d give you all an update.
Firstly, i’ve been promoting in the local area and have also managed to find two potential stockists for the anthology in Chester and Liverpool. However, we have a favour to ask of you all; if your local library has a noticeboard we would appreciate it if you’d request a poster from us and ask them to put it up. Also, though the response through Tumblr has been brilliant we’re increasing promotion through Twitter and Facebook. If you have either of those accounts please promote the project. The more interest we get, the more potential readers for your work.
We’ve decided that as well as having print copies of the anthology available we’re going to publish through Kindle. It’s apparently how the cool kids read these days, though I have one so i’m not sure if ‘cool’ is the right word…
I’m currently writing some example submissions which Luke will illustrate when he gets back from his travels. Once they’re uploaded we hope it will help you all to see what we’re aiming to do with this project.
We’re working on something very important that will definitely be of interest to writers not from the UK. Once we’ve smoothed it all out we’ll be posting an announcement on all of our sites. Watch this space.
An old university tutor of mine who runs his own anthology and has several books published has sent us an email this week. He’s promoted the project to his contacts and sent us a poem for inclusion in the first issue of PIYE. I mention this to demonstrate that we’re taking this project seriously and it’s a very real chance to get your work ‘out there’.

Just ordered some flyers, badges and stickers!
Now i’m off to look at envelopes and get more posters printed.
God I know how to live it up on my days off.

{BE MY VALENTINE!
We’re running a Valentine’s competition for all you lonely hearts out there. Get your quirky poems in by the 13th February 2012. Non-UK writers ALLOWED! We’re spreading the love globally.
REBLOG TO SPREAD THE WORD!
Check out the stuff we got in the post today! Stickers, badges and more flyers! It’s so cool to see Luke’s designs off the laptop screen! I’m using excessive exclamation points to show just how excited I am!

Publishing!
Hello writers, how are you all?
Just to let you know that i’m currently pricing up printing cost but have run into a little problem. I have no idea how many copies we will need!
So I have a few questions for you all…
- Would you rather buy a print copy or buy through Kindle?
- Would you be willing to buy even if your work is not included in the anthology?
- What is the maximum you would be willing to pay?
These are just so Luke and I can get quotes, we want to find the cheapest possible printers without sacrificing quality.
Please leave your answers in a reply, thanks.
P.S. Don’t forget the deadline for submissions is Feb 29th! Don’t miss out!
